Entry Requirements

Like any other destination in the French West indies, American and Canadian visitors need to have a valid passport, and will need a visa for a stay longer than 90 days. For French travelers, getting to Guadeloupe requires the same documents as traveling within the French borders. Citizens from any other country in the world might be asked for a visa, depending on their country of origin. For further information, check on the website of your embassy.

In order to get to Guadeloupe, you don’t necessary need any vaccination papers unless you are arriving from an endemic area. However, concerning animals, the admissions are temporary. They concern cats or dogs older than three months with bilingual veterinary certificate, and identified by a microchip. For further information about the admission of animals, please contact the Guadeloupe Tourist Office.


If not in excessive quantity, items that are for personal consumption are admitted without additional taxes or formalities. For additional information, you can check the French regulations that are applied at the airport of Guadeloupe. If you have nothing to declare when getting there, follow the signs “Rien à declarer” (Nothing to declare).


Getting to Guadeloupe is possible thanks to more and more companies operating flights. Among them, you will find Air Canada, Air France, Air Caraïbes, American Eagle, Continental Airlines, LIAT, US Airways, US Air and Continental connect with Air Caraïbes in either San Juan or St. Martin, Cubana De Aviacion. Here are some examples of different flight options.

From the United States

You can fly into Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe or Princess Juliana Airport (airport code SXM) on the Dutch side of St Martin. Regional airports enable you to jump from one island to another with smaller planes. Indeed, American Airlines offers several flights per week to Pointe-à-Pitre airport leaving from the U.S., and both American and Delta offer flights to St Martin. Air France also flies direct from Miami and Atlanta to Pointe-à-Pitre.


Since April 6th 2013, American Airlines operates twice weekly direct flights to Pointe-à-Pitre (PTP – Guadeloupe Islands) from Miami.

American Airlines will provide a Boeing 737 aircraft, offering the comfort of 16 business class and 134 economy class seats. The late morning departure will enable passengers to benefit from an easy connection from all over the US, with an arrival in Guadeloupe Islands in the afternoon!


NEWS from July 2019 : JetBlue has opened flights now and they fly from February 2020 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays for the season with direct flights from NYC. This is a great news for Guadeloupe Islands and US Citizens who will be able to continue discovering these paradise islands in the French Caribbean.

From Canada

You can fly with Air Canada with direct flights from Montreal (YUL) to Pointe-à-Pitre (PTP). Indeed, the company operate flights every Saturdays and offers additional flights on Thursdays.
Direct flights between Montreal and Pointe-à-Pitre are offered on A319 equipped with 14 seats in Executive Class and 106 seats in Economy Class.

From Belgium

You can fly direct with Air Belgium from December 7, 2019 from Charleroi airport to PTP Guadeloupe and FDF Martinique with Airbus A340. The flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Welcome to Belgium visitors who will be lucky to discover these magnificent islands.

Already on neighboring islands?

You can get into Guadeloupe with LIAT, which flies from Antigua, Martinique, St. Maarten, St. Croix, St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad and Dominica. Air Caraïbes operates around 6 flights a day into Guadeloupe from Martinique, as well as at least one flight a day from French St. Martin, St. Barths and Cayenne.
